ADOPTEES OR NATURAL FAMILIES:
If you are an adoptee, or natural family searching for your lost family member(s) and need help with the purchase a kit, please read the terms below.
YOU MUST READ ALL OF THE BELOW, BEFORE APPLYING:
Please apply for a kit if you meet the criteria below:
* You must have financial difficulties which do not allow you to purchase a DNA kit in the foreseeable future (Ancestry sale price is $99 plus $19.99 shipping but has been on sale for as low as $69). This can include long term or permanent disability, a fixed income or old age pension, low income single parenthood, or something similar. Please do not apply if you have a temporary job loss, or there is another way to get a kit on sale, such as requesting it as a gift for a birthday or other occasion. We really try to offer these kits to those who are in need, and who will most likely never be able to afford it on their own.
* You are an adoptee born in a closed province (Nova Scotia, PEI, or Quebec, OR you were born in an open province, but a veto has been placed on your adoption file by your biological parent, OR you have no information on your paternal side because none, very little, or false information was provided in your adoption disclosure file.
* You were adopted within Canada, in the US, or internationally.
* You have received or already applied for all the documents you are entitled to. To find out what you can get, per province, please see: Adoption Disclosure Laws, by province.
All applications will be considered on a case by case basis. You may also be put on our waiting list as applications far exceed donations.
Once we receive your application we will get in touch with you and ask you more questions. We will also advise you what you need to do to get all of the documents you may be entitled to through the province or the various agencies of the Children's Aid Societies (CAS, CCAS).
If you receive a DNA kit, we will register the kit for you, and send you the kit. We will also send you all of the log in information for your registered kit, and help you with the results when they come in after a 6-8 weeks.
All of your information will be kept confidential.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST answer every question (#1 through #9) on the form below, in order to be considered for a free DNA kit. One you submit your application, please check your email for our reply. We reply very quickly to your request.
If you haven't already done so, please join the Facebook group: Free Canada Adoption / Family Search and Reunion and make a post with your search information.
